Speak Out Against the UN Commission of Inquiry's Anti-Israel Campaign

Today, the UN Human Rights Council's Commission of Inquiry on the Situation in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza (the “COI”) reported its findings and recommendations to the UN General Assembly.

COI provokes disproportionate criticism of Israel and ignores Hamas’s terrorist atrocities, such as indiscriminately attacking Israeli civilians with over 4,300 rockets and mortars fired from densely populated civilian areas during its conflict with Israel in May 2021, thereby also endangering Palestinian civilians.

The COI was formed in May 2021, directly after the violence escalated between Israel and Hamas, when the United Nations’ Human Rights Council (UNHRC) voted to create an unprecedented, open-ended international investigation into Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.

An open-ended investigation like this has never been instigated against any other UN member state, just Israel – the only Jewish state. All others, like those that have been launched against Syria, the Taliban’s Afghanistan, and Myanmar, have to be renewed each year.

We urge the UN Secretary General to reject this biased report and disband the malicious and illegitimate COI.

We applaud the U.S. government for firmly opposing the open-ended and vaguely defined nature of the COI (READ MORE) and urge all community members to stay informed and speak out about this one-sided, anti-Israel activity at the UN.
