Because Jewish Federation is part of a North American collective, our local community benefits from national-level advocacy, philanthropy, expertise, and programs, such as the newly-launched RISE program providing career support to established Jewish community professionals laid off due to COVID-19. Learn more about it in this Friday Light.
We bring the local community curated experiences we might not have access to on our own -- from this week's briefing about the Israeli-Emirati agreement with Ambassador Dennis Ross and David Makovsky of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, to feel-good gatherings that make Jewish life more vibrant, a bit more fun, and more connected, such as:
- On September 14, join us with James Beard award-winning chef, Michael Solomonov for a virtual Rosh Hashanah cooking class.
- On September 16, be part of the Community Kvell with surprise celebrity guests.
If your teen sees this summer as a bust, there is still time for them to be part of an epic worldwide virtual teenfest on August 23, as well as more programs stretching into next month, including an exclusive docent training about Holocaust, genocide, and human rights-related art.
At this time, when it feels our day-to-day lives have closed in, Federation puts the whole world at your grasp, virtually. We do it with local programs and we do it with programs and resources that our national affiliates, partners, and our parent organization, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) give to us -- to give to you.
As Jews, and as a Federation, we are part of a worldwide family, and this is what families do: give and take, share what we have, make meaning together -- especially during tough times.
We are glad to call you family and hope you'll take part in all that our family offers.
