On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, New Jersey State Police, and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness hosted a High Holiday Law Enforcement Briefing in Trenton. The annual briefing is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
The event brought together community members, interfaith leaders, and law enforcement partners to discuss important public safety information and preparations for the upcoming Jewish High Holiday season. The briefing provided an opportunity to share updates, strengthen coordination, and reinforce partnerships that help ensure the safety and security of communities throughout New Jersey.
"High Holiday briefings with state and local law enforcement are an important part of keeping our communities safe and prepared," said Susan Antman, Executive Director of Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey. "These conversations strengthen communication, build trust, and ensure that community leaders and law enforcement partners are working together. We are grateful for the time, attention, and commitment of our law enforcement partners as we enter the High Holiday season."
The program featured presentations from New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport; Acting Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police Jeanne Hengemuhle; Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Thomas Hauck; and FBI Newark Field Office Special Agent in Charge Stefanie Roddy. Speakers addressed key public safety considerations and ongoing collaborative efforts in advance of the High Holidays.
The program also included educational presentations on Jewish customs, traditions, and religious observances associated with the High Holidays. These sessions were presented by representatives of the New Jersey Jewish Trooper Association and New Jersey State Police Chaplains Rabbi Yosef Carlebach and Rabbi Joel Freideman, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the significance of the season.
Representing Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey's Community Security Initiative, Director of Security Initiatives Amy Keller participated in the statewide briefing. The Federation is grateful for its longstanding partnerships with law enforcement and security professionals across New Jersey, whose collaboration continues to play a critical role in supporting a safe and secure High Holiday season for the Jewish community.
