A Letter From Our President
On January 1, 2015, the Jewish Federations of Monmouth and Greater Middlesex counties merged to form the Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey. The goal was simple: do more good for more people at home, in Israel, and around the world. Together, we have been looking at ways to achieve this goal with fresh eyes. In 2015 we used resources more strategically. We engaged thousands more Jews who were not previously connected to the Federation or community. We strengthened partnerships to support targeted populations and the community as a whole.
Together we are thriving:
- Caring for the vulnerable whenever and wherever they are in need.
- Inspiring young people to embrace their Jewish identity.
- Enabling more Jews to find their connection to a vibrant Jewish community.
- Forging strong connections with Jewish communities in Israel and overseas.
Among the year’s highlights, we expanded our Caring Initiative supporting volunteers and
professionals visiting those who are ill or alone.
We grew our PJ Library program to age 7 and subscribers to 1,400+, sharing joyful Jewish experiences with more young families.
We tripled Jewish sleep-away camp incentives and increased Israel travel grants for 18-30 year olds. These experiences are a smart investment in our Jewish future.
We rolled out new security measures for the community, engaged people of all ages in Israel advocacy, and began assessing gaps in human services and transportation.
The new Federation is off to a strong start. We have you to thank for staying connected, giving of your time and talents, encouraging others to get involved, and for your continued financial support, which enables the Federation and its partners to turn values of caring into deeds that change the world.
