End Israel discrimination at the UN

There is no way to minimize the severity of today’s global events. While we keep our attention on the humanitarian needs in Ukraine and across the region, as well as critical spending debates in Congress, there is a continued march to further delegitimize Israel at the UN. We have seen during last week’s UN meetings that even with Russia’s unprovoked violence it is Israel alone that continues to have a permanent agenda item in the UN Human Rights Council and the newly approved permanent Commission of Inquiry. American leadership is critical to ending the discrimination of Israel at the UN.

In a public statement last week about holding Russia accountable at the UN, Secretary Blinken affirmed that "we will continue to counter anti-Israel bias and the unfair and disproportionate focus on Israel on the Council. The Commission of Inquiry and standing Agenda Item 7 are a stain on the Council’s credibility, and we strongly reject them.”

We as a community must demonstrate that there is broad support for this position and to keep the pressure focused on the UN. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Rob Portman (R-OH) have authored a bipartisan letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken to “prioritize reversing the UN Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) discriminatory and unwarranted treatment of Israel by leading a multinational effort in the Council and in the UN to end the permanent Commission of Inquiry (COI) on the Israeli Palestinian conflict.”

We need your help to ensure the largest number of Senators join in this effort.

Please urge your Senators to ask them to sign.

Thank you.
