The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County presents Your Show of Shows Part II: More inside stories of this classic TV show, presented by Barry Jacobsen, on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 2 PM. Admission is $8 members, $10
non-members.

Jacobsen returns to the Museum after his 2017 presentation of Your Show of Shows. This program features the most famous comedy sketches from Your Show Of Shows, such as “The German General,” “This Is Your Story,” and “From Here to Obscurity.” Mr. Jacobsen also dis-cusses the history of the show, plus his personal experiences working with the show's creator. Additionally, he will display memorabilia from the show.

Your Show of Shows was a popular, live variety show that was on television from 1950 to 1954, featuring comedians Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca, with writers that included Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, and Carl Reiner. In the mid-1970s, Barry Jacobsen worked for the creator of Your Show of Shows, Max Liebman, who at the time was semi-retired. Although not born during the show’s run, Jacobsen became an historical expert on the production and history of the show, spending hours talking to Max and others about those times in the early 1950s. After Max died, Barry took it upon himself to organize and donate television artifacts that were in his office, many of which related to Your Show of Shows.

In 2002, Your Show of Shows was ranked #30 on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time!

This program is made possible in part by the Monmouth County Historical Commission through funding from the New Jersey Historical Commission of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
