In commemoration of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), the Drew University Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study will host Jessica Blank as this year's speaker. Jessica met Hedy after winning Oprah Winfrey's National Essay Contest and the Adopt-a-Survivor Program. Hedy was born in Hungary in 1930, making her only 14 years old when the Nazis sent her to the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Bremen, and Bergen-Belsen. Hedy entrusted Jessica with her testimony and asked that she retell it after she was gone. Through her words and experiences, we remember not only the horrors Hedy endured but also the resilience, courage, and humanity that allowed her to survive. This virtual program is free and open to the public. Professional development credits are available for all educators.
