Class 1: Adam and Eve

How many times have we read the story of Adam and Eve? For many, the story is as implausible as it is unreal. For some it is plainly ridiculous. Yet, as one of the first stories of the Torah, it calls upon us to take it seriously, not literally.
o What is it saying?
o What questions is it trying to answer?
o What is the view of human beings that it is presenting to us?
o What does it say about God?
Far from being an account of "the Fall" or "Original Sin" (views which are outside of the Jewish interpretive tradition) the story teaches us about conscience, shame, companionship, human fulfillment, gender, sexuality, desire, and what God desires from humanity.

Join us as we take a fresh look at one of the most misunderstood stories of the Bible.
