Set during the 50’s & 60’s, Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel, a Jewish housewife living an idyllic life, complete with husband and two kids, in an opulent Upper West Side apartment, makes a life-altering decision to leave her comfortable life. Her seemingly enchanting life takes a surprising turn when her ‘failure as a stand-up comic’ husband leaves her. And so, she discovers her own repressed hidden talent - as a truly gifted stand-up comedienne. This revelation changes her life forever, as she begins a journey that takes her from her comfortable life as a mother and housewife into the bohemian enclave of cafés and nightclubs of Greenwich Village and the grand stages of The Catskills.

Stevie Doueck, Film Producer/Writer and Founding Director of the Jersey Shore Film Festival, explores the question: what attracts us to the Amazon Series presentation of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Join Mr. Doueck’s group as they screen, explore, and discuss several episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; highlighting and analyzing the various plot points and cinematic techniques used to attract such a following in this most memorable television production.

Reservations are requested to the temple office at 732-531-4410 or on the temple website (www.torat-el.org) under the Events tab.
