Yehuda Amichai is a major mid-20th century poet and probably the most internationally known modern poet of Israel. Amichai's poems are about love and war, being a Jew in the 20th century, and living in Israel. Rick Black is an award-winning poet and book artist.

Over the past ten years, Rick has dedicated himself to creating "The Amichai Windows," a limited edition artist book of 18 folios housed in an enclosure resembling a Jerusalem window. Each of the window-themed poems appears in the original Hebrew and a new translation by Rick. Hand-printed on an old-fashioned letterpress, each triptych with its own poem incorporates replicas of some of Amichai's original, Handwritten poems as well as collaged images of Jewish history and life, assembled from the world. "The Amichai Windows" becomes a visual odyssey through Jewish as filtered through Amichai poems. When you open a triptych, you discover a different world within each one.

Rick will talk about Yehuda Amichai's life and work, read and discuss several of the poems, and introduce us to his magnificent artist book, "The Amichai Windows."
