“Thou shall not destroy….. “ “For is a tree of the field human…” Deuteronomy Chapter 20:19
“See my works, how fine and excellent they are! All that I have created, for you have I created them. Think upon this and do not dispoil and destroy My world, For if you do, there is no one to set it right after you.’ ”
Midrash Ecclesiastes Rabbah 7:28
In Jewish tradition Torah is often referred to as the “tree of life.” How does Judaism relate to environmental issues. What is Bal Tashchit and Shmita? Using somatic movement practices, Israeli dance, meditation, prayer, teachings from Torah and from our sages we will come together to celebrate nature and the environment.
Note: While there will be some physical movement:
• No movement experience necessary.
• All movements are gentle but feel free to sit and watch.
• Wear comfortable clothing.
• All activities can be done sitting or standing (or even lying down.)
This session will be led by Doreen Addison and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Elliott Familant at efamilant@gmail.com.
