Join us for another program with the wonderful art teacher, Dani Schechner.
Tu B'Shvat is the birthday or new year of trees.
In this program we will celebrate the majestic beauty of trees by creating a Tree of Life Sculpture.
First, we will explore the remarkable textures of different types of tree barks through interactive texture identification activity and a drawing technique called Frottage. Then we will transform a used book into a magnificent tree sculpture, using a variety of techniques such as cutting, constructing, and decoupage. We will also collage our found texture rubbing to the cover and surface of the book to create a skin - much like a tree has. As we create, we will explore some basics of the anatomy and biology of trees, as well. Our appreciation for Boyom (tree in Yiddish) will magnify with our tiny creative interpretations.
All ages and creative backgrounds are welcome.
