Cantor Gerald Cohen is cantor at Shaarei Tikvah in Scarsdale, NY, and is honored to have served the congregation for more than 35 years. He is now on faculty of the cantorial schools of the Jewish Theological Seminary and Hebrew Union College. Cohen is well-known as a composer of Jewish and concert music. His opera Steal a Pencil For Me, a love story set against the terrors of Nazi concentration camp life had its premiere production by Opera Colorado in 2018. His setting of Psalm 23 has recieved thousands of performances from Carnegie Hall to synagogues and churches around the world. Voyagers, an album of his chamber music played by the Cassatt String Quartet and friends, was released on the innova label in July 2023.
