Once again, The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County will be participating in the annual "Weekend in Old Monmouth," an event when Monmouth County historical sites open their doors to visitors and waive their admission fees. This year’s event at the Museum will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The Museum’s Permanent Exhibit, Three Centuries of Growth and Change A History of the Jews of Monmouth County, provides an overview of the waves of immigration which brought Jews to the area from all parts of the world to Monmouth County.

The Museum encourages families to bring children for “Weekend in Old Monmouth” to enjoy our interactive exhibit called “Youth Zone,” designed to appeal to elementary and junior high school children. The “Youth Zone” includes six cleverly designed standing books, each of which tells the story of a fascinating person who appears in the Permanent Exhibit. In addition, an activity center will include jigsaw puzzles, a scavenger hunt which challenges children to find answers to clues within the Permanent Exhibit.

In addition to the Permanent Exhibit and children’s activities, the Museum is presenting an exhibit entitled Let’s Dish: Family Histories Through Dinnerware, telling the stories of local families through samples of their heirloom dishes. There is also a display of Passover items and Haggadahs.

There is much more to see and experience at The Jewish Heritage Museum. Your Story is Here! Come Visit.

This program is made possible in part by the Monmouth County Historical Commission through funding from the New Jersey Historical Commission the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
