The 1st Film in the 18th Annual HPCT-CAE Jewish Film Series is Rue Mandar, a French comedy with English subtitles. Following the death of their family matriarch, three siblings and their French-Jewish families gather to mourn, annoy the living daylights out of each other and blindly attempt to figure out how they'll get on with their lives.
Remarks via Skype: Daniella Doron, senior lecturer in Jewish History at the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, Monash University. Her book, "Jewish Youth and Identity in Postwar France," explores the family in strenghtening Jewish ethnicity in the shadow of Vichy and the Holocaust.
