Starting with the British mandate and the pre-state period, this course will chronologically explore 100 years in the Land of Israel, using Google Maps, Google street view, and other visual aids.

Featured Classes:

Pre-State Israel (1917-1947) – We will discuss the years of the British Mandate and pre-State Israel, from the Balfour Declaration to the United Nations Partition Plan.

Two Impactful Wars (1948-1967) – the War of Independence and the Six-Day War helped shape Israel and determined its eventual destiny. We will discuss these wars and other challenges facing the newly born country.

Yom Kippur and Lebanon (1967-1985) – We will look at the period from the Six-Day War to the end of the First Lebanon War, including the existential threat of the Yom Kippur War.

Intifadas, Peace and Immigration (1985-2000) – This lesson will examine the first Intifada (Palestinian uprising), the Ethiopian and Russian mass immigration to Israel, the peace process with the Palestinians, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, and the start of the Second Intifada.

The Second Intifada Until Today (2000-Present) – We will discuss the disengagement from Gaza, the Second Lebanon War, and current issues in Israeli society.
