17th Century Spanish and Dutch Art

For much of the 17th century Spain and Holland were at war.
No two nations could have been more different. Yet each
produced one of the greatest artists the world has ever seen
and they essentially spoke the same artistic language. A
spectacular unprecedented exhibition in Amsterdam in 2019
paired images from these two artists (Velazquez and
Rembrandt) and their colleagues to demonstrate the
similarities in their vision across a vast cultural and political
divide.
