George Gershwin, raised on the Lower East Side, was one of the most popular Jewish composers of the early 20th century. He wrote songs known the world over such as "I've Got a Crush on You" and "Someone to Watch Over Me". Gershwin also composed music for many Broadway shows and for films such as "Shall We Dance", starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and featuring the song "They Can't Take That Away From Me". Actor and singer Barbara McCarthy will share these songs along with many other Gershwin classics in this show. This event is free and open to the public as space allows. Pre-registration is recommended. To register or for more information please contact The Piscataway Public Library at 732-463-1633 Ext. 6 OR bit.ly/PPLgershwin OR stop by the Library Information Desk in person.
