Trio Sefardi, founded in 2010, is a confluence of three performers who share a love of and wide ranging experience with Sephardic music. Washington Post chief music critic Ann Midgette praised the group's "lovely and luminous performance of Sephardic songs." Their first recording, "Sefardic Celebration," was released in 2011 and their second recording will be release in Fall 2016.
At 6:30 PM there will be a special viewing of Flory's Flame, a one-hour documentary weaving the life story of 90-year old Sephardic US National Heritage Fellow musician Flory Jagoda with her 2013 Celebration Concert at the US Library of Congress. The combined personal and musical overviews open a window on pe-Inquisition Spanish Jewish life.
