Please join Michael Colby as he talks about the illustrious history of New York's Algonquin Hotel, where he virtually grew up. Michael Colby's grandparents, Ben and Mary Bodne, owned the hotel from 1946-1987, where Michael was surrounded by famous literary and cultural figures. He has written of his adventures in the new and popular book, The Algonquin Kid.
Lerner and Loewe wrote My Fair Lady at the Algonquin. Marilyn Monroe flashed Michael's grandmother on the corner. Bellmen scrambled to find an Oscar winner's missing bag of marijuana. As a real-life equivalent of Eloise, Michael eventually moved into the hotel, a writer who found his own place in the world of the Broadway theatre and musicals.
Michael will share excerpts from the book, (perform songs written at the hotel), and answer questions. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
