A leading expert on biblical thought and modern Jewish theology, Dr. Benjamin Sommer, Jewish Theological Seminary, will talk about one of the most important, but least understood, doctrines of Judaism, the Oral Torah. He will explore what the Talmudic rabbis mean when they refer to the Oral Torah, how it relates to the Written Torah, and how modern Jewish thinkers have adapted this ancient categorization. Free and open to the public.
