The Renaissance was by far the most creative period in human history. Normally, we think principally of the art and humanism, but it was so very much more. It touched every facet of life in the wake of the Great Plague: commerce, banking, diplomacy, governmental organization (the 'republic'), philosophy, theology, and of course its visual expression in the arts and architecture.
Dr. Burdett teaches at the College of Staten Island - CUNY and the Rutgers University – Osher Lifelong Learning Center. He received his Ph.D. at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
