This program by internationally known harpist Karen Stern will include music in a variety of styles, ranging from the Baroque (Handel) to the Romantic (Debussy) to the contemporary (Gershwin), something for everyone.
Karen Stern is a busy harpist in the New York area. She enjoys performing in concerts like this, enjoying sharing music in an atmosphere that is intimate and with easy access to all.
Karen performed regularly with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for many years. She participated in the orchestra's two trips to Ireland, can be heard on several of their CDs, and was soloist with them in Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp during their 1997 Mozart Festival. Other orchestral experience includes performances with American Symphony Orchestra, NYC Ballet, American Ballet Theater, NYC Opera and Broadway shows.
Her career has been varied, from providing music for high tea at the Waldorf and aboard cruise ships, to traveling to Budapest with the New York Harp Ensemble to record an album with Hungarian opera star Eva Marton. The Levin/Stern Flute and Harp Duo, with flutist Sharon Levin, was presented in their NY debut recital at Weill Recital Hall, as winners of the Young Artists Chamber Music Award, and have concertized in the US, Europe, South and Central America.
