According to some experts, singing musical show tunes leads to mental clarity. True or not, this course will explore the history of the early movie musical. From Al Jolson’s Jazz Singer, to Busby Berkeley, to Fred and Ginger, to Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, we will watch and discuss clips from musicals from the 20s and 30s. Our goal is for you to leave this course with your toes tapping, and a song on your lips if not in your heart.
Sam and Candy Caponegro are addicted to musicals.  They have been involved with over 60 musicals in the NY/NJ area. Candy is a published author and Sam is a painter whose work has been shown at galleries in NJ. They have taught courses on film and broadway musicals at Rutgers Continuing Education School.
