Dr. David Golinkin, president of The Schechter Institutes Inc. and president emeritus of the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, will be the Dr. Julius & Ethel Mintz Scholar in Residence, Nov. 11 - 12, 2016.
Following Shabbat Dinner (reservations required), at about 8 PM, Dr. Golinkin will speak on "Why Observe Halakhah? A Non-Fundamentalist Approach." On Shabbat morning Dr. Golinkin will present "The Two Lekh Lekhas - What Can We Do About the State of Judaism in the Jewish State." Shabbat morning services begin at 8:45 AM.
Following a light kiddush lunch, Dr. Golinkin will address "How are these Responsa Different From All the Other Responsa? On Conservative Responsa Written in the State of Israel."
During Seudah Shleesheet, 3:45 PM, Prof. Golinkin will discuss one Teshuva in detail.
