The Joint Chaplaincy Committee, Wilf Campus for Senior Living, Jewish Family Services of Somerset, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties, and Atlantic Health System proudly offer: CREATING A CARING COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Purpose of Course:
Our goal is to provide training for faith community lay leaders and non-clergy professionals to enable them to be present for congregational and community members who would welcome and benefit from additional spiritual and emotional support during difficult times. These trained lay and professional visitors, in collaboration with their own clergy, where applicable will provide appropriate support to congregational and community members suffering from a wide variety of problems including chronic illness, recent discharge from a hospital or rehabilitation facility, grief, and other life-changing circumstances.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this training program, the participant will be able to:
• Establish or enhance a plan, in conjunction with the community clergy leader, where applicable, to
start or continue a congregation or community visitation program.
• Integrate some basic concepts and skills of active lis- tening and support for congregants and other commu- nity members experiencing stress or grief.
• Utilize appropriate cultural and ritual aids to support the congregant or community member as needed and
