The Chairs of Inclusion, 11 life-sized chairs created by artists in collaboration with adults with disabilities, are coming to downtown Asbury Park, Nov 8 - 29, 2015. Created to represent a collective vision of a world where every person is entitled to a "seat at the table," the large-scale art exhibition shifts perceptions about what individuals with disabilities can accomplish as part of our community. Everyone is invited to participate in any or all of the special free events being offered including a special topic lecture on"The Role of Chairs in Jewish Tradition" by Rabbi Nasanayl Braun on Thursday, Nov 12 at 1 PM at The ShowRoom Cinema, Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park.
The Wae Center, an alternative learning center for adults with disabilities located in West Orange, NJ, commissioned these fabulous chairs, which will be hosted by separate stores and galleries throughout downtown Asbury Park. The Wae Center is a program of Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) . For information on lectures, workshops, and group guided tours, visit www.chairsofinclusion.org.
