Perry Leavell will present the life story (an abbreviated version) of Alexander Hamilton, starting with his illegitimate birth in the British West Indies. Hamilton was the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury, President of the United States, and achieved much in his lifetime.

Professor Leavell will offer facts and opinions about what made Alexander Hamilton great!

Presenter Perry Leavell received his BA from Emory University and his PhD in American History from Tulane. He taught history at Drew University for 41 years. He won the Presidential Distinguished Teaching Award and published articles on American politics. Today Dr. Leavell speaks on topics in American History at many locations in central and northern NJ. His official title is the “William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of History Emeritus.”
